2017:

FOAAP hosted two "It's My Park Day" events, one in the spring and another in the fall.

Special thanks to City Councilman Mark Levine, the City Parks Foundation and the NYS Parks Department for their financial support. Our spring It's My Park Day on May 7th featured the puppet show, "Cinderella Samba," as well as facepainting and refreshments and attracted over 100 people. On Saturday, October 21st Friends of Anibal Aviles held a fall "Its My Park Day" celebration featuring a bilingual puppet show "Mi Bebe es un Heroe" (My Baby is a Hero) by the theater company Repertorio Espanol, facepainting, flower-bulb planting and refreshments. More than 50 people attended!  Flower bulbs were provided by the New Yorkers for Parks “Daffodil Project” and we planted 250 bulbs.

2016:

In February 2016 FOAAP won our first Partnership for Parks grant to hold an “It’s My Park Day” event in April 2016, which nearly 100 people attended. The park has been in TD Bank’s “Rooted in New York” campaign over the summer of 2016, and won inclusion on the Parks Department “Community Parks Initiative” list that enabled the playground equipment and the grounds to be to be painted in October 2016. In December 2016 FOAAP participated in the New Yorkers for Parks “Daffodil Project” and planted 250 bulbs with the help of 20 children and parents from a local preschool.

2015:

After forming in July 2015, the Friends of Anibal Aviles Playground succeeded in persuading the NYC Parks Department to install a new child safety fence in December.
