The weather was IDEAL on Saturday, June 16th for our Spring 2018 It’s My Park Day. We hosted over 60 people, had a packed day with a puppet show from Repertorio Espanol, facepainting, tree-planting, two NEW picnic tables and refreshments. Plus groovy BRIGHT GREEN t-shirts! Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer dropped by, as did State Senator Brian Benjamin and City Councilman Mark Levine. Special thanks to Councilman Levine for the Park Equity Initiative grant which made the day possible.

We had a FABULOUS event Saturday April 30th, 2017 - the weather was PERFECT and over 100 people attended! THANK YOU for coming out and showing your support for the Anibal Aviles Playground!

Thank you to Barbara Nikronknow - the Parks Outreach Coordinator for Community Board 7, Robert McLean - the Parks and Recreation Manager for Community Board 7, Jose Urena - the Park Supervisor for Manhattan for all their encouragement, help, and support that made this weekend's event such a success.

Also thanks to Peter Arndtsen of the Columbus Amsterdam Business Improvement District for his support and also for lending us tables and chairs for the event.

Big thanks to City Parks Foundation for their generous capacity grant to Friends of Anibal Aviles Playground, which paid for the facepainting (http://www.facepaintingbyshelly.com) and music by Ms. Janis (http://www.msjanis.com/

I know I speak for everyone in thanking the brothers from Phi Sigma Chi!  Almost TWENTY brothers from the fraternity attended and worked at the event cleaning up the park - really terrific support.

Please patronize Silver Moon Bakery (http://silvermoonbakery.com/) and Levain Bakery (http://www.levainbakery.com/) for their generous doantions of muffins and cookies.  And Fresh Kids  (http://wearefreshkids.com/products/) for their donations of pretzels and chips for the event.

We were pleased that the Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer attended the event, and Ed Sullivan, from Public Advocate Tish James office, also came by in the morning.

All in all a terrific first start!
